What is a room spray?
Room sprays are a quick and effective way to freshen up, enliven and elevate your personal spaces; the effect is instant and can last up to a few hours. They work by pumping air blended in essential oils and a base through a spray pump and into the air to scent your environment at home naturally.
How do I use my room spray?
A spritz of room spray in a room, above soft furnishings, around a doorway or on a welcome mat is the perfect way to set the mood as people enter your home. Our room sprays typically scent a space for up to a few hours. For best results, shake well; spritz two to four pumps pointing upwards into the centre of the room away from face and eyes, and refresh as needed. Spray close to linen fabrics approximately 2-3 inches away.
Try spraying a little onto curtains to catch in the breeze; or over cushions, where each plumping will release the scent. When spritzing fabric, linen or rugs, take a gentle and cautious approach: Spritz 2-3 inches above the area. Always test it on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it won't stain the fabric.
How long does the scent last?
Our room sprays provide instant freshness lasting for 15 minutes up to a couple of hours, depending on the size of the space.
Are the Room Sprays safe on the skin?
Yes, but we do not recommend you use our room sprays as body sprays, just in the spaces around you. For the body, we recommend our Lavender Fennel Mist or Rose Elderflower Mist, formulated for the face and body.
Are your products vegan?
All of our room sprays are vegan. Most of our products are vegan, excluding beeswax and goat's milk. Examples of products that contain beeswax include our lip balm products and our mummy tummy and baby bottom balms. A complete ingredients list can be found on each product's information page.
Do you test your products on animals?
We never have – and never will – tested any Saltspring products on animals.
Are your products safe around children and pregnant women?
Although we formulate our products with pure, natural ingredients in safe dilutions, if you have any concerns, our best suggestion is to always speak with your trusted healthcare practitioner before introducing essential oil-based products during your pregnancy or around children and children with sensitivities. Like all household products, make sure to use ours as directed and keep products out of reach of children.
Are your room sprays safe to use around pets?
Pets, especially dogs and cats, have a heightened, more sensitive sense of smell than humans. Thus, many fragrances and essential oils are potential irritants for them.
The concentration (i.e., amount of dilution) and type of oil are significant, but so too are the quality of the oil, the ventilation in the room, and a host of other factors.
When Essential Oils are introduced to the pet's environment, the area in which it is used should be an open area with easy access to fresh air and where your pet can freely exit the space. Some pets may have sensitivities, so it is always best not to spray directly onto your pet or your pet's sleeping mat; test an area with a small amount at first. Additionally, always spray away from the direct vicinity of your pet.
Although we use pure organic essential oils and all-natural ingredients in our room sprays, they are formulated in safe dilutions for households shared with pets except for birds, as they are sensitive to fragrances and essential oils and have delicate respiratory systems.
Like all household products, use ours as directed and keep products out of reach of pets.
